Hi Wakefield School District (Paul School) Families,
As we get closer to winter, I want to take a moment to talk about how we make decisions around school delays, early releases, or closures due to weather. I know these calls have a big impact on your day, and I truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility when Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate.
Every storm is different, and there’s no perfect formula for deciding whether to delay, close, or release early. I rely on information from local road crews, weather forecasts, law enforcement, and our transportation partners. Above all, safety is always my top priority.
That said, I want to hear from you! Would you rather we make the call the night before, or wait until early morning?
I put together a quick survey for your feedback, your input will really help us refine the process.
I want to acknowledge that the weather in Wakefield can vary greatly depending on where you live, sometimes one side of town is clear while the other is covered in snow! I know we’re all part of the same community, but the weather likes to go where it chooses.
And finally, I want to apologize in advance, I know I won’t always get it 100% right when it comes to weather decisions. Please know that I always make these calls with safety in mind, and I err on the side of caution.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate New England’s unpredictable winters together!
Click this for the survey link. If you have a student at Paul School, you will also be receiving this survey via email.
Donna
